Get to know the PSDS Board of Directors

PSDS, Inc. is a nonprofit, fully volunteer organization. Its Board of Directors is made up of 11 elected volunteers, each serving a two year term. Meet the folks that contribute their time and energy to help swing dance thrive in the Piedmont!

normal Norma Beheler is a mental health professional who works with children and families in Guilford County. She has been swing dancing for five years. She is also an enthusiastic supporter of PSDS functions including dances, workshops and community events. This is her first term as a board member.
gail
President 		Dr. Gail Dempsey moved to North Carolina in 2002 and found PSDS when a friend invited her to go swing dancing. Dr. Dempsey works for a pharmaceutical company, and outside of swing dancing she enjoys cycling, skiing and travelling. 
Secretary

Toni Edwards serves as secretary of the PSDS. She started swing dancing in 2002 after taking a class with Katie Brown. She is an avid reader and loves watching live theater productions and reality television.

Vice President

 Gary Holland has been dancing for almost a decade, and is one of our local swing dance instructors. He has taught workshops in Greensboro, Charlotte, Boone, and Franklin, NC. Gary's favorite part about teaching is being able to pass along a joy to someone else, and watching the students enjoy themselves.
Rebecca Holland, along with husband Gary, is a local instructor with The Swing of Things. They have taught workshops in Greensboro, Charlotte, Boone, and Franklin, NC.

Treasurer 		Tim Jewett has served on the PSDS Board of Directors since a few months after its inception and has served as Treasurer for the organization since June of 2000. He is an environmental engineer and has helped teach swing dancing in the past with Katie Brown and The Swing of Things. Tim's other hobbies include snow skiing, SCUBA diving, rock climbing, camping, and running.

Workshop Planning Chair

Marlana Kirk, 37, has been swing dancing for 3 years. She lives in Kernersville with her husband Sean and son Caleb. She works at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as a Patient Representative.  She and her husband have recently started teaching Swing Dance in Kernersville.  She also enjoys cycling, reading and going to her son's soccer and baseball games.

Brook Martin is an accountant from Burlington, NC who drives all the way to Greensboro and Winston-Salem for our fabulous PSDS dances. Watch for his signature "chicken-wing" jump move!
Harry Nifong has been dancing in the Piedmont area for many years and also has a scond career with MadLib.

Billy Richardson, started swing dancing with Joel Domoe in the first wave of swing dancers in Piedmont area. Billy is an avid amateur photographer and lucky for PSDS he likes to photograph swing dance events. Look for some of his work on the photos page.
